About the Contest
We’re honored to host a worldwide Birth Photography contest featuring beautiful and real images of birth, breastfeeding, and motherhood. We believe that these images are worth seeing and celebrating. We believe that motherhood and the female body should not be censored. Our contest features images taken in 2017 by some of the best birth and motherhood photographers around the world. With five categories and an incredible panel of judges, we look forward to celebrating the beauty of birth with you.
The five categories are: maternity, labor, birth, fresh 48, and breastfeeding. Each category will have a first, second, and third place winner, selected by our esteemed panel of judges. There will also be one overall First Prize chosen by our judges. We’ll be updating this site each week with the images that have moved on based on the judges selections.
We’re also excited to also open up the contest up to YOU. We want the world to vote on their favorite birth images. In addition to our first, second, and third place winners, each category will also have a People’s Choice award. We ask you to come and vote during each round!

People’s Choice is a fun opportunity for the world to interact with the contest
Public voting will be tallied throughout the contest and will result in a People’s Choice winner for each category and an overall People’s Choice Winner
Our judges will select our first, second, and third place winners…and our overall First Place winner
Judging
Images will be judged based on emotional impact, technical precision, creativity and storytelling. Every judge will view and judge the entirety of each gallery!
The judging/voting schedule is as follows:
We’ll be open for submissions from January 16th until January 22nd.
Voting for Round 1 starts January 23rd through January 28th
Round 2 announced on January 29th
Voting for Round 2 starts January 30th through February 4th
Final Round announced on February 5th
Voting for Final Round starts February 6th through February 9th
Winners announced on February 12th

Who Can Enter
We invite all professional birth photographers to enter. Entries will be accepted from January 16-22, 2018.
Photo Requirements
The entry fee is $15 for one image, and $50 for five images. Payment must be made before uploading images.
Photos should be uploaded directly to the Birth Becomes Her Contest website once payment is made (www.birthbecomeshercontest.com).
Photos must be taken in 2017
Image specifications: not larger than 1MB, longest side 1920px, unwatermarked
Images must fall into one of the 5 categories; maternity, labor, birth, fresh, and breastfeeding.
Maternity: Lifestyle or Posed
Labor: Images taken before the birth of baby
Birth: Images from crowning until 3 hours postpartum
Fresh: Lifestyle/Documentary images taken during the first week of life
Breastfeeding: Any age, any time.
Voting
Our contest will also be open for voting by the public. These scores will determine the People’s Choice winners (one per category, and one overall winner) but will not effect the first, second, or third place winners.
Prizes
Overall winner (most total points from all judges) will win $250 cash prize, a seat at our next workshop and a $200 shop credit.
1st place in each category: $200 cash prize
2nd place in each category: $75 cash prize
3rd place in each category: $50 cash prize
Overall People’s Choice (most total votes by you), $100 cash prize.
